Hate to say it Kylie Jenner, but I think 2019 was the year of realising stuff. Here's the 10 things I've learnt so far this year. It's been wild and it's only April.
1. Say YES More
1. Say YES More
I can certainly put my hand up and admit that in the past I would come up with any excuse to get out of doing something I couldn't be bothered with, and this is really not a good thing to be known for. This year I can certainly say I have stepped out of my comfort zone and done things I usually wouldn't because I bit the bullet and said yes, and so many amazing things have come out of doing just that.
2. Don't presume things about people based on what you have heard, get to know them
Engaging and believing in rumours is really, really bad. There are so many people I've met that I have assumed the worst of because of some silly rumour I have heard from someone but once I got to know them I realised that they were such a cool person. Also, people change! No one is the same person as they once were five years ago, remember that.
3. You don't need to party to have fun
2018 was a terrible year for me and I thought that the only way I could have fun was to go out and party from Friday to Sunday. This is actually doing more harm than good. Not only did you feel sick and tired all the time, but you also become super unhappy because that temporary feeling of euphoria is short-lived and you're just never going to be satisfied. Although a lot of my social outings this year has included me being out in a bar or club setting, I have made more of a conscious effort to stop binge drinking and just enjoy the moment.
4. Fight for what you want but know when it is time to walk away
When I want something I will fight for it, hard. I will keep going no matter how much rejection I face and although that can be a good trait sometimes, I've learnt in the last few months that it comes to a point where you just have to walk away. If you feel the need to try with someone because you love them that's ok, but if they cannot reciprocate that same love than it isn't worth that much energy. Remember everything that is currently happening in your life is part of your journey.
5. Save money and spend it wisely
Materialistic objects do not bring you joy, Madyson. This year is all about saving that coin for that really amazing trip you have planned next year. Also, you really need to start saving for a house deposit pronto since it apparently takes 10 years to do so.
6. Go above and beyond in everything you do
Whether it be in your job, uni or being a good friend/sister/daughter, give your all with absolutely everything you do.
7. Experience life more
Stop being so consumed with your phone in social settings and actually put it face-down in the middle of the table and listen to those around you. Amazing the things you can pick up on when you aren't busy editing a photo of yourself in the middle of a dinner.
8. Love yourself
To be loved you have to love yourself first. Confidence has been a big thing for me this year and I think I am progressing in this department.
9. Work out because you feel good not because you want to look good
Focusing on how you look is not good for the soul. My strength this year has improved dramatically and therefore that makes me feel good. I am also a firm believer that when you feel good you look good because you just radiate this positive energy. I am so happy I have found a routine that works for me and I truely love working out now.
10. Friendship breakups are more difficult than your relationship breakups
Friendship breakups suck, but that's life. Focus on those people who reciprocate the same energy you give off. Being a good friend is important, however having that returned to you is just as important too.
